Spring 2010
performance
You can never forget the people you love – our memories are indestructible. All we need are catalysts.
We can never truly forget.
objects ‘that we keep’ are catalysts to remember.
[ the smell of a certain perfume immediately takes me back to a summer windowsill ]
This performance was to iterate the indestructible nature of a memory.
This box contains all my memories – all the relics from people and places of my past.
I lit it on fire.
After 10 seconds of burning, the flame died.
the box was left, unscathed.
Symbolically lighting it on fire signified its impermanence and ease of destruction.
A memory is indestructible.
