Plaster Process

Spring 2013 – Summer 2013

Plaster is really interesting. Before I get swept away with the poetics of its materiality… [its softness, its rigidity, its porosity…]

I experimented with it in college, casting textures with makeshift molds.

Since working, I had been dreaming about building molds. It’s always about finding a way to collapse the mold within itself and make a series of objects that can describe the destruction of form.

In this series of plaster casts, I’m toying with burning out voids. Influenced heavily from conversations while pouring bronze with Nickolus Meisel.
